"A few days before my period, I'm..."
“Maybe that time of the month is when the emotions I usually feel start to clump together — and the output of those feelings just gets stronger.” (from a voice memo during a discussion about “PMS”)
Exploring “PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome)” through Dance and Film
At the accompanying art gallery of the forum theater “A few days before my period, I’m…” – My Monthly Fluctuations, which explored comfortable ways of living with PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome), we were given the opportunity to create a dance × film work based on the shared theme of “PMS.”
Together with filmmaker Takumi Hasegawa and dancer Sara Takahashi, we explored how PMS could be approached through dance, questioning, “How can we express PMS through movement?” The creation process was fresh and insightful, offering a rare experience of working from a pre-determined theme.
The event itself was filled with warmth—a beautiful space where diverse forms of art intertwined, and participants came together to understand PMS and reflect on how we might live with it in our own ways.
